REMEDIES

1. The curriculum is substantially covered: STS 212 Statistical Inference is advanced for 200 level; also, it lacks topics like One Way Anova, Two Way Anova and Interval Estimation.
2. Some projects lacked interpretation of results from charts and tables and thus not well supervised.
3. only 58% of the staff are core to the programme.
4. Only 2 out of the 5 non-academic staff had benefitted from the staff development programme.
5. Library holdings are inadequate in number considering the number of students enrolled in each level of the programme.

 

1. STS Statistical Inference should be moved to 300 level and it should include topics like One Way Anova, Two Way Anova and Interval Estimation.
2. All projects should be well supervised to include interpretation of results from charts and tables.
3. The university should employ more staff that are core to the programme.
4. The university should ensure that all of the non-academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.
5. Library holdings should be increased in number.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.40%. It scored 30 (81.08%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77.14%) in Staffing, 21.5 (79.63%) in Physical Facilities, 13.5 (75.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
