1. The curriculum for the programme contains three innovative courses..
2. Interaction with students’ revealed that learning materials such as projector and smart boards are used only for 100L students.
3. Some technical staff of the programme lack adequate training.
4. 87% of non- teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme in the last 3years.
5. Some essencial laboratory equipment such as phase-constrast microscope, Dark field microscope and fluoresence microscope are not available for the programme.
6. Classrooms are not well maintained; equipment such as fans, projector and lighting are not available in some classrooms.
7. Staff offices are inadequate in space as Senior lecturers share offices.
8. Professors’ offices do not have a personalized toilets.
9. The e-library is subscribed to only one database.
10. There is no multidisplinary approach to research and collaboration.
11. Funding for the programme is inadequate

 

1. The University should ensure that the Curriculum is enriched with at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. Learning materials should be provided for students at all level.
3. Adequate training should be given to all technical staff of the programme.
4. The University is encouraged to ensure that all non- teaching benefit from staff development programme.
5. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line the BMAS/ CCMAS.
6. The University should ensure that classrooms are maintained and equipment procured for the programme.
7. Standard and adequate staff offices should be provided for academic staff of the programme as specified in the BMAS.
8. The University should ensure Profesdors’ offices have a personalized toilet.
9. More database should be subscribed for the programme.
10. The university should ensure a multidisciplinary approach to research and collaboration.
11. Adequate funding should be provided for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.9%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
