1. The Curriculum is not fully adequate as CHE 310 Polymer Chemistry and CHEM 415 Polymer Technology were not included in the curriculum.
2. Only one innovative course was added to the curriculum.
3. Academic regulation was not well publicised among students.
4. The staff mix by rank of 25:36:39 was consistent with NUC guideline in one category.
5. 66.67% of non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development.
6. Teaching facilities and furniture in the class rooms are not well maintained.
7. Only one data base research for life exist.

 

1. The University should provide to include CHE 310 Polymer Chemistry and CHEM 415 Polymer Technology in the curriculum;
2. The University should add more innovative courses to the programme.
3. The University should ensure to publicise academic regulation among students.
4. The University should ensure that staff mix by rank should be consistent with NUC guideline in all categories.
5. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development. University should ensure all non-academic staff benefit from staff development;
6. Teaching facilities and furniture in the class rooms should be well maintained.
7. The University should ensure to subscribe to more data base.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.80%. It scored 31 (83.78%)  in Academic Matters, 30.50 (87%) in Staffing, 21.50 (79.63%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
