REMEDIES

1. The curriculum content is inadequate as some core courses, including GES 201 Communication Skills, CHM 305 Petrochemistry and CHM 308 Natural Products Chemistry are omitted in the curriculum of the programme.

2. Practical works for the programme are not depth and do not cover the curriculum.

3. Less than 54% of Academic and Non-Academic staff benefited from staff Development programmes.

4. Equipment such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (NMR), Infrared Spectrometer (IR) and Osmometer Membrane are not available in the Laboratory for the programme.

5. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The curriculum should be reviewed to include GES 201 Communication Skills, CHM 305 Petrochemistry and CHM 308 Natural Products Chemistry in the programme.

2. The University should ensure in-depth practical works and coverage for the programme.

3. The University should ensure that all Academic Staff benefit from Staff Development programme.

4. The University should procure equipment to include Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (NMR), Infrared Spectrometer (IR) and Osmometer Membrane in the laboratory for the programme.

5. The programme should adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.00%. It scored 29 (78.38%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
