REMEDIES

1. The ratio/proportion of teaching staff core to the programme provides only for 52.5%.
2. 37.5% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D degree.
3. 43% of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme
4. The programme does not have dedicated Computer Studio.
5.Dimension Bench Machine for wood planning and circular sawing is obsolete and not functional.
6.The woodwork workshop is obsolete and not in use..
7.Funding is inadequate for Direct Teaching Cost, Laboratory consumables and Departmental Running Cost.

 

1.The University should ensure that the ratio/proportion of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff need.
2. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D degree.
3. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
4. A dedicated Computer Studio should be provided for the programme in line with the CCMAS/BMAS.
5. Dimension Bench Machine should be purchased for the programme.
6. The woodwork workshop under construction should be fast tracked and put in use.
7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.00%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 27.5 (79%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
