1. T he practical conducted by student did not cover 75% of the practical content of the curriculum due to inadequate consumable practical materials
2. The proportion of staff core to the subject area is less than 50% of the teaching need which does not meet the NUC guidelines
3. The non-teaching staff are inadequate to handle the practical aspect of the programme effectively
4. The laboratory space is inadequate compared to the number of students in thee programme therefore it met 60% of the NUC space standard
5. laboratory equipment inspected are of good quality and quantity but there is need to provide shaping machines and fuctional hacksaw machines
6. Library text books are of good quality but inadequate in number to accommodate the number of students for the programme
7. Library journals are are not very current

 

1. Consumable practical materials should be adequate for students to cover 75% or more in practicals
2. The staff core should be improved on to meet 75% or more of the teaching need
3. More non-teaching staff is required to handle practical aspect of the programme effectively
4. The laboratory space should be improved on and made adequate for the number of student in the programme in other to meet 70% or more as stated in the NUC BMAS
5. There should be provision of adequate number of shaping machines and functional hacksaw machines
6. There should provision of adequate number library text books to accommodate the number of students for the programme
7. Library journals should be very current

 

The total score for the programme is 88.00%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
