1. The staff mix by rank of 25:35:50 is consistent with NUC guidelines in only one category.

2. 37.5% of academic staff have not benefitted from staff development programme.

3. 38% of non-academic staff have not benefitted from staff development programme.

4. Some essential Laboratory equipment are not available like atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).

5. Some classrooms and lecture theatres are not equipped with public address systems while some needs renovation.

6. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space and does not have adequate toilet facilities.

7. Library books like Analytical Chemistry by Gary Christian, Physical Chemistry by P.A. Atkins are not available and the available journals are not very current.

8. internet facility of the library is limited in coverage.

9. Funding is not very adequate.

 

1. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45.

2. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

3. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

4. All essential equipment like atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) should be provided.

5. Classrooms should be provided with public address systems and adequately renovated.

6. Standard academic staff offices should be provided with adequate toilet facilities for the programme.

7. Recommended Analytical and Physical Chemistry books and very current journals should be procured for the programme

8. The internet facility should be upgraded to have a wider coverage across campus.

9. Funding should be made very adequate

 

The total score for the programme is 89.41%. It scored 33 (100.00%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (86%) in Staffing, 24.4 (90.37%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
