REMEDIES

1. The staff mix by rank of 25:37.5:37.5 does not meet the NUC BMAS requirements.

2. 62.5% of academic staff are core to the subject area.

3. 44.4% of non-academic staff have not benefitted from staff development programme.

4. Some essential Laboratory equipment are not available like electrophoresis machine while microscopes are inadequate in number.

5. Classrooms and lecture theatres are not well lit and not well equipped with projectors, fans/AC and public address systems.

6. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space.

7. The internet facility of the library is limited in coverage.

8. Funding is not very adequate.

 

1. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45.

2. The university should ensure that the ratio of academic staff core to the programme is 75% or more.

3. The university should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

4. All essential equipment like electrophoresis machine and microscopes should be provided.

5. Classrooms should be well lit and well equipped with projectors, fan/AC and public address systems.

6. Standard academic staff offices should be provided for the programme.

7. The internet facility should be upgraded to have a wider coverage across campus.

8. Funding should be made very adequate

 

The total score for the programme is 84.87%. It scored 33 (100.00%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
