REMEDIES

1. The staff mix by rank of 71.4:28.6:0 does not meets the NUC guideline in all category.

2. 100% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from the Staff Development Programme in the past three years.

3.There is no dedicated classroom for fisheries and aquaculture programme.

4. Academic staff offices are inadequate in number, as senior lecturers shared offices.

5. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.

6. Internet connectivity is slow and imped access to e-resources.

7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

8. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

1. The University should ensure the the staff mix by rank of 20:45:35 in line with the NUC guideline.

2. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

3. The University should provide dedicated classrooms for the programme.

4. Adequate number of academic staff offices should be provided for the programme.

5. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

6. Internet connectivity should be improved upon for easy access to e-books and e-journals for the programme.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

8. The University should ensure that there is multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
