Only two Departments (Morbid Anatomy and Community Medicine introduced innovative courses in their curriculum.

There are very limited number of simulators available for the clinical skill lab thereby reducing the functionality of the lab.

The academic staff development of the programme is below 70% and mostly self sponsored, while the non academic staff development is very poor. Most of the non academic staff have not benefitted from any form of staff development.

Staff offices are grossly inadequate. Some academic staff do not have offices, some Professors are sharing offices and their offices are not ensuite.

The toilet facilities around the school are not adequate and not accessible.

The sanitation and general cleanliness around the teaching hospital need to be improved.

Most of the available text books and journals are not current

 

More innovative courses above that recommended in the BMAS should be introduced in the curriculum.

Simulators should be provided for the clinical skill lab to ensure hands on practical and improve the functionality of the lab.

The academic staff should be sponsored so as to broaden their development, while the non academic staff should be encouraged to go for trainings to boost their service delivery

The University should build more office complex to accomodate all staff. Professorial offices should be well equipped with toilet facilities.

The University should provide more toilet facilities around the school and ensure their accessibility.

There is need to improve the sanitation and general cleanliness around the teaching hospital.

More relevant and current text books and journals should be procured

 

The total score for the programme is 86.72%. It scored 34.4 (92.97%)  in Academic Matters, 30.8 (88.00%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 15.2 (84.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1.2 (40.00%) in Funding, 2.8 (93.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
