1. Academic regulations are not well publicised. 2. Most lectures in the department do not submit their marking schemes. 3. Degree projects are not well supervised. 4. Internal Quality Assurance is not functional at the departmental level. 5. The staff mix by rank do not conform to NUC guidelines; as the department has no senior lecturers. 6. Only 35.7% of academic staff have PhDs. 7. The number of technologists to supervise and cater for the laboratories, workshops and studios are inadequate in number. 8. 78.6% of academic staff have not benefitted from from staff development programme. 9. 83.3% of non-academic staff have not benefitted from staff development programme. 10. The Ceramic studio of the department is inadequate in space and cannot accommodate all teaching equipment. 11. Key ceramic studio teaching equipments such as electric kiln, jaw crusher and ball mill are not functional due to electric wiring problem. 12. Some staff offices visited had faulty fans and air conditioners and did not have illustration boards. 13. Fire extinguishers and sand buckets are inadequate in number. 14. Books and journals in the physical library are inadequate in number and currency. 15. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

1. Departmental and Faculty handbooks should be well publicised and distributed to students. 2. Lecturers should endeavour to submit their marking schemes. 3. There is need to improve on the quality of supervision by lecturers. 4. The University should ensure Internal Quality Assurance system is functional and effective. 5. The University should ensure the staff mix by rank enshrined by NUC is complied with. 6. The University should ensure more academic staff of the department have PhDs. 7. More technologists and trade test assistants should be recruited. 8. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development programme. 9. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from staff development programme. 10. A more conducive and bigger space should be provided for the ceramic studio. 11. Electic wiring problem in the ceramic studio should be rectified to ensure these equipment are functional for teaching. 12. Fans and air conditioners in staff offices should be well maintained and illustration boards procured. 13. The University should provide more fire extinguishers and sand buckets in the department. 14. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme. 15. The programme should be adequately funded.

The total score for the programme is 67.60%. It scored 30.5 (82.43%) in Academic Matters, 18 (51.43%) in Staffing, 18 (66.67%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.
