1. Curriculum is not fully adequate for the programme as the following courses were omitted in some level of study: Commercial law, Business law which is supposed to be a 6 unit (2 semester) course have been merged as a single course. Also general studies course- logic and Human Existence is omitted from the curriculum.

2. The curriculum contains only three innovative course

3. Interaction between the panel members and students of the programme reveals the students have not acquired the relevant hard and soft skills expected of or prescribed for their levels.

4. 35% of academic staff and none of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff Development Programme in the last three years.

5. The space in the existing laboratory is inadequate in size or meets 60% but less than 70% of the prescribed NUC Standards.

6. Computers in the Business laboratory are inadequate in number compare with the number of student admitted for the programme.

7. Academic staff offices lack bookshelves and file cabinet.

8. Books and Journals in the physical library are of good quality but biased toward financial management books in areas of entrepreneurship, marketing and management are not current.

9. Recommended texts and journals in the physical library are current but need to be improve.

10. The library subscription to e-books and e-journals is active to at least one (1) relevant data base in addition to open source for the programme

11. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The curriculum should be revised to include: Commercial law, Logic and Human Existence and Business Law should be split into a 6 unit (2 semester) for the programme.

2. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

3. The University should ensure that the hard and soft skills acquisition relevant to the programme are impacted to students.

4. The University should ensure that all academic staff and non-teaching staff benefit from the staff development programme.
5. The University should ensure that laboratory space meets the provisions of the BMAS.

6. More Computers for business laboratory should be procured for the programme.

7. Well-equipped offices should be provided for the academic staff on the program.
8. The University should ensure that more current books and journals are procure in areas of entrepreneurship, marketing and management.

9. More current recommended texts and journals in areas of business like entrepreneurship and marketing management should be procure for the programme.

10. The University should subscribe to at least two (2) relevant database e-resources for the programme.

11. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.80%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
