1. Practical work conducted did not adequately cover the curriculum.

2. Only 22% of the teaching staff are from the parent university.

3. 66.7% of the teaching staff have PhD.

4. Only 66.7% of the teaching staff benefitted from staff development programme of the College.
5. 0% of non-teaching staff benefitted from staff development programme.
6. The laboratory lack some modern equipment.

7. Staff accommodation is not well equipped.

8. Inadequate number of fire extinguishers and sand buckets.

9. Inadequate number of physical holdings and currency in the library.

10. No Subscription to data bases in the e-library, only open source materials.

 

1. More practical work should be conducted to adequately cover the curriculum.
2. 25% or more of the teaching staff should be drawn from the parent university.
3. The College should train more staff of the programme to acquire PhD.
4. The College should avail more opportunities to staff to benefit from staff development programme.
5. All non teaching staff of the programme should be encouraged to benefit from staff development programme of the College.
6. More modern equipment should be provided in the laboratory. E.g. Digital Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeter e.t.c.
7. The College should equip staff offices with more facilities like bookshelves, file cabinets and more chairs.
8. More fire extinguishers and sand buckets should be provided in strategic areas.
9. The College should purchase more current books and journals in the library. E.g. Classical/Analytical Mechanics, Statistical Physics, Quantum mechanics e.t.c.
10. The College should subscribe to at least 2 databases in addition to open source materials.

 

The total score for the programme is 77.88%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (80.00%) in Staffing, 20.25 (75.00%) in Physical Facilities, 8.0 (44.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
