DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. The practical work conducted did not adequately cover the curriculum
2. 37.5% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme
3. The available laboratory is inadequate in space, it can only cater for 60% of the students’ population
4. The programme has only 36 functional work stations which can only cater for 60% of the students enrolled for the programme
5. Academic offices are slightly inadequate in space.
6. Available fire extinguishers were expired
7. The school relies on only open source materials and there is no active subscription to any data base

 

1. The school should ensure that practicals are conducted to cover the depth and scope of the curriculum
2. The school should ensure that all staff benefit from the programme
3. The school should ensure that a standard (spacious)laboratory is provided for the programme
4. The school should ensure that more computers are acquired for the laboratory
5. The school ensure that academic staff offices are spacious and well ventillated
6. The school should ensure that functional fire extinguishers are installed in strategic location for the programme
7. The school should subscribe to at least two data bases for a more robust and electronic resources.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.85%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 37 (92.50%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library, in academic matters, staffing, physical facilities and library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
