REMEDIES

1. Practical conducted are of good quality but did not cover aspect of the curriculum.

2. Staff mix by rank 20:30:50 does not meet NUC approved guidelines for the programme.

3. The department does not have adequate non teaching staff for the programme.

4. 70% of academic and non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme.

5. Laboratory equipment are available and well maintained but more are needed for the programme.

6. Professorial offices are available but there is no provision of mini-lab
.

7. The department does not have adequate safety equipment.

8. Library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.

9. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The university should ensure that practical work covers the curriculum.

2. The university should ensure a staff mixed by rank of 20:35:45 inlined with the NUC approved guidelines.

3. More non-teaching staff should be employed in admin and technologist.

4. The university should ensure that all academic and non-teaching staff benefit from the staff development for motivation.

5. The university should ensure to procure more equipment i.e. plethysmometer, Analqesiometer and PH meter for the programme.

6. Professorial offices should be provided with mini-lab for the programme.

7. The university should provide more sand buckets, fire extinquishers and first aid box at strategic places in the department.

8. The university should procure more current books and journals, such as Phamacology journals, Katzing, Goodman & Gilman, Rang & Dale for the programme.

9. The university should ensure that the programme is adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.00%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74.29%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
