REMEDIES

1. The student demonstrated good level of soft skills but average level of hard skills relevant to programme.
2. Only 60% of the teaching staff are core to the subject area.
3. Staff mix by rank is consistence with NUC guidelines in two categories but deviate in the Professorial cadre by 2%.
4. 27% of teaching staff doesn’t have Ph.D.
5. 40% of academic staff and 60% of non academic staff have not benefited from staff development in the last three years.
6. Office accommodations are adequate in space, number but ill equipped.
7. The program does not have a bicycle for community health practice and no designated vehicle for field work
8. Funding for the programme needs improvement.

 

1. The students should have both hard and sort skills relevant to the programme.
2. The university should ensure that at least 80% of the teaching staff are core to the subject area.
3. Staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 should be maintained in accordance with NUC guidelines.
4. All teaching staff of the programme should have Ph.D.
5. The university should create staff development for all staff of the pragramme.
6. The university should procure office equipments for the programme and all professorial offices should be en-suite.
7. The university should provide a bicycle and a designated vehicle for the programme.
8. More funds should be provided for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.2%. It scored 37 (97%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (77%) in Staffing, 27 (71%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (89%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
