1. There were no innovative courses added in the curriculum. 2. The academic Regulations exists but lacks some components such as misconduct and punishments. 3. Marking scheme exists and well developed, however, CHEM 313(Instrumental Method of Analysis) had bulk marking. 4. Internal Quality Assurance Committee exist, but there are no evidence of minutes of meeting. 5. Less than 70% (62.5%) of staff have earned PhD. 6. Less than 50%, (37.5%) of non-academic staff in the programme have benefitted from the Staff development programme. 7. Some important equipment are not seen at the Chemistry Laboratory. 8. The equipment are adequate but not well maintained and some classroom have no podium. Staff rooms are not adequate in space and not well equipped. 9. Text books are of good quality and adequate, but there is no proper coverage of the books. 10. The funding is not adequate.

1. The department should include innovative courses in the curriculum. 3. CHEM 313 (Instrumental Method of Analysis) should be marked independently; i.e., single marking. 4. The University should ensure that the Department’s Qulity Assurance Committee be active and minutes of meetings be documented. 5. The University should encourage the Academic Staff of the Department to earn PhD. 6. The Non-academic Staff should be encouraged to partake of the Staff Development Programme. 7. The University’s Management should provide the required equipment that is needed to service the Chemistry Laboratory such as; Fourier Transform Infra-red (FTIR), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Gas Chemotograpy-Mass Spec (GC-MS) and High Performance Liquid Chamotography (HPLC). 8. The University should provide adequate Staff office equipment to service the Programme. 9. The University should purchase books such as; Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. 10. The funding should be made adequate for the programme

The total score for the programme is 80.58%. It scored 28.5 (81.43%) in Academic Matters, 29 (87.88%) in Staffing, 20.5 (75.93%) in Physical Facilities, 13.5 (75.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
