DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. Credit units of some courses such as
a. Elementary Mathematics (100L) was 2 units instead of the 3 units prescribed by the BMAS/CCMAS
b. Project Reports I & II (2 units each) exceeded the maximum credit units prescribed by the BMAS.

2. Some Degree Projects were not properly supervised and signed by relevant authorities.

3. 31.56% of teaching staff do not have PhD Degrees.
4. Over 33% of the teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development in the last 3 years.

5. There are no Universal Testing Machine (UTM); Compressive Testing Machine (CTM) ; Concrete Mixer; Vices Clamps for plumbing workshop; Bath up, water Closet (WC), Wash Hand Basin in the Workshops.
6. There are no refrigerators, good file Cabinets, TV sets in some Professorial offices.
7. There are no sand buckets and Fire extinguishers in most of the workshops, class room and theatres visited.
8. The internet connectivity in the Library Campus Hotspot is slow.
9. Funding available to the Programme is inadequate

 

1. The university should ensure that Elementary Mathematics and Project Reports I & II are assigned the prescribed credit units in the BMAS.

2. The University should ensure that all Degree projects should be properly supervised in line with the BMAS and signed by relevant authorities.
3. The university should ensure that all the teaching staff to the Programme have PhD degrees.
4. The university should encourage all teaching staff to benefit from Staff Development.
5. The university should provide Universal Testing Machine (UTM); Compressive Testing Machine (CTM) ; Concrete Mixer; Vices Clamps for plumbing workshop; Bath up, water Closet (WC), Wash Hand Basin in the Workshops.
6. The university should furnish all offices, especially professorial offices with refrigerators, good file Cabinets, TV sets.
7. The university should ensure there are sand buckets and Fire extinguishers the workshops, class room and theatres.
8. The university should ensure internet connectivity in both the library area and campus is strong and fast to enable access to library resources.
9. The university is advised to source more funds from Tetfund, grants from Government, alumni association.

 

The total score for the programme is 76.40%. It scored 30.5 (82.43%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74.29%) in Staffing, 18 (66.67%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
