REMEDIES

1. Some marking schemes did not show marks allotted to each question.

2. Interaction between the panel members and students of the programme reveals that the students have not acquired the relevant hard and soft skills expected of or prescribed for their levels.

3. The Internal quality assurance system exist but not effective.

4. The staff mix by rank of 14.3:28.6:57.2 does not meet the BMAS requirement in any category.

5. 33.4% of the academic staff and 100% of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme.

6. The programme does not have a dedicated ICT laboratory and some equipment are not available in the laboratory.

7. Academic staff offices are not well furnished with filing cabinets and bookshelves

8. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in currency, number and coverage.

9. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-book and journals by students and staff of the programme.

10. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. Marking schemes should be well developed and proper allotment of marks among each points should be adopted.

2. The University should ensure that student acquire very good level of hard and soft skills relevant to the programme.

3. The university should ensure that internal quality assurance system is effective and meetings should be held regularly.

4. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45.

5. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from the staff development programme.

6. The university should procure equipment like GPS, GIS software, projectors, projector stands and screens and a well equip dedicated ICT laboratory.

7. Standard and adequately furnished academic staff offices should be provided for the programme

8. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme to cover all the core areas.

9. More internet bandwidth should be provided in the e-library for fast accessibility to books and journals.

10. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.17%. It scored 30 (91%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74%) in Staffing, 21 (78%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
