1. There are no innovative courses included in the curriculum

2. Not all students admitted met the admission requirements.

3. Percentage of Continuous Assessment is not uniform across all courses; some are 30% and some 40%.

4. Staff Mix by rank 30:35:35 is not consistent with NUC guideline by virtue of high proportion of professors.

5. Only 66% of the academic staff and 20% of non academic staff benefited from staff development.

6. Academic Staff offices are not adequately furnished with book shelves, cabinet and refrigerator.

7. Equipments such as Thin-Section Cutting Machine, Tetrameter, Sledge Harmers and adequate GPS is not in the laboratory

8. Research and collaboration does not have a multidisciplinary approach.

9. Funding for the programme is inadequate

 

1. The University should ensure innovative courses are included in the curriculum at all level.

2. The University should ensure all students admitted to the programme meet the admission requirement as stipulated.

3. The University should adopt a uniform percentage for Continuous Assessment across all courses in the programme.

4. The University should ensure staff mix by rank is in line with NUC guideline 20:35:45 by employing staff in the Senior Lecturer cadre and below.
5. The University should ensure all academic and non academic staff benefit from staff development.

6. The University should ensure standard furnishing of academic staff offices.

7. The University should ensure these equipments are provided for the programme.

8. The University should ensure research and collaboration have a multidisciplinary approach.
9. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 79.67%. It scored 26 (74.29%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
