1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.

2. The examination and test questions do not cover the curriculum as seen in the past questions such as MTH401, MTH402, and MTH405.

3. The practical conducted are not adequate from the perspective of students who were interviewed.

4. 47% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D. degrees.

5. 54% of the academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme in the last five years; being it conferences, seminar, or training.

6. Staff offices are slightly inadequate in space and not well equipped with fridges, good seats and poor toilet facilities.

7. Books such as PDE for final year students MTH 402 and Fluid Dynamics Text are not available.

8. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the Programme.

9. Funding is inadequate.

10. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that examination and test questions cover the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure that more practical are conducted.

4. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D. degrees.

5. The University should ensure that all the academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

6. Adequate and well-equipped offices should be provided for the Programme.

7. The University should ensure PDE and Fluid Dynamics textbooks are procured for the programme.

8. The University should ensure that there is research and collaboration in the Programme.

9. The University should ensure that the Programme is well funded.

10. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the Programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 77%. It scored 28 (76%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74%) in Staffing, 24 (89%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (67%) in Funding, 2 (67%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
