REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains only one innovative course.
2. The ratio of teaching staff core to the programme, provided for only 12.5 % of the teaching staff need.
3. 50% of academic staff and none of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme.
4. Classrooms equipment such as white boards, projectors and public address systems are inadequate in number.
5. Academic staff offices are slightly inadequate in space.
6. Books and Journals in the physical library are inadequate in number and coverage.
7. Research and collaboration do not exist and not multidisciplinary approach.
8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. The University should ensure that the ratio of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching.
3. The University should ensure that all academic staff and non-teaching staff benefit from the staff development programme.
4. More classrooms equipment should be procured for the programme.
5. The University should provide more office space for teaching staff.
6. More books and journals should be procured for the programme such as Fundamental of early childhood education, Teaching children in a diverse society, Approaches to early childhood education, Foundation and best practice in early childhood education etc
7. The University should encourage academic staff and students of the programme to collaborate and developed multidisciplinary research project.
8. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 76.00%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 23 (65.71%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
