1. CHEM 314 that is a compulsory course in the BMAS was listed as elective.
2. The curriculum contains only two innovative courses.

3. Bloc allocation of marks was obsevered in Chemistry 201
4. Non-teaching Staff are not adequate in number for the programme

5. 50% of the academic staff and none of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme
6. Chemistry laboratory is not adequately equipped with ultraviolet vision spec and atomic absorption spec and machines for the programme
7. Academic staff offices are not adequately in furnished, there no white boards and bookshelves in some offices
8. Physical books and journals are not adequate in coverage and currency

9. The programme subscribed to one active database EBSCOHOST
10. Slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme

 

1. The College should adhere to the NUC BMAS
2. The College should ensure that the curriculum is enriched with at least four innovative courses without exceeding maximum credit load.
3. Bloc allocation of marks should be discouraged.
4. The College should recruit more laboratory technicians and administrative staff for the programme
5. The College should ensure that all the academic and non-teaching staff benefitted from staff development programme
6. The Chemistry laboratory should be adequately equipped with relevant equipments for the programme

7. The College should provide adequately furnished staff offices for the programme
8. Adequate and current physical books and journals should be procured by the college for the programme
9. The College should subscribed to at least two active databases
10. The College should ensure active internet connectivity for the programme .

11. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 72.58%. It scored 26 (78.79%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (80.00%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 11 (61.11%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
