1. Academic regulations exist in students’ handbook but not well publicized, do not include rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations/penalties for examination malpractices/details of CGPA calculation
2. There is no innovative course in the curriculum
3. There is no evidence of practical work by the students of the programme
4. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective and there is no evidence of minutes of meetings.
5. Staff mix by rank meets the NUC guidelines only in one category
6. Less than 60% of the academic staff have PhD
7. Less than 50% of the academic staff benefitted from the staff development programme
8. No non-teaching staff benefited from the staff development programme
9. The number of technologists is inadequate for the programme
10. Staff offices are inadequate in space and equipment
11. The physical holdings are inadequate in number and currency
12. Funding is inadequate for the programme.
13. There is no evidence of research collaboration.
14. There is no tracer system in place.

 

1. Academic regulations should be well publicized, and the University should review students’ handbook to include regulations on examinations, malpractices and CGPA Calculations
2. The University should ensure there is at least four innovative courses in the curriculum
3. The University should ensure that students of the programme undertake practical works
4. The University should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme and should also ensure that minutes of meetings are adequately documented.
5. The University should ensure that the staff mix by rank meets the NUC guidelines in all categories
6. The University should ensure that all academic staff have PhD
7. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme
8. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from the staff development programme
9. The University should employ more and qualified technologists for the programme
10. The University should ensure that standard and well-equipped staff offices are provided
11. The University should ensure that more and current books and journals are provided for the programme
12. The programme should be adequately funded.
13. The University should ensure that there is multidisciplinary research by the staff of the programme.
14. The University should ensure that a tracer system is in place.

 

The total score for the programme is 60.00%. It scored 27 (72.97%)  in Academic Matters, 21 (52.50%) in Staffing, 18 (66.67%) in Physical Facilities, 11 (61.11%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
