1. Academic regulations exist in students’ handbook but not well publicized, do not include rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations/penalties for examination malpractices/details of CGPA calculation
2. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective and there is no evidence of minutes of meetings.
3. 38.0% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D. degree
4. Non-teaching staff are inadequate in number
5. 75.0% of the academic staff have not benefited from staff development in the past three years
6. More than 50% of the non-academic staff have not benefited from staff development programme
7. Classrooms are inadequate in terms of equipment and furnishing
8. There is no existing laboratory for the programme
9. Available fire extinguishers are all expired and Sanitation around the teaching venues is very poor.
10. Funding is inadequate for the programme.
11. There is no tracer system in place.

 

1. Academic regulations should be well publicized, and the University should review students’ handbook to include regulations on examinations, malpractices and CGPA Calculations.
2. The University should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme and should also ensure that minutes of meetings are adequately documented.
3. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D. degree.
4. The University should ensure that adequate number of non-teaching staff are engaged for the programme
5. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme
6. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme
7. The University should ensure that standard and well-equipped classrooms are provided for the programme
8. The University should ensure that standard laboratories are provided for the programme
9. The University should ensure that functional fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment/devices are installed at strategic locations for the programme and the poor sanitation of the environment should be improved.
10. The programme should be adequately funded.
11. The University should ensure that a tracer system is in place.

 

The total score for the programme is 63.85%. It scored 23 (62.16%)  in Academic Matters, 20 (50.00%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
