REMEDIES

1. Some of the students enrolled in the programme did not meet the admission requirements.

2. Question papers were not properly constructed as seen in the Systematic Histology 1.

3.The condition of the cadavers the respiratory room and embalming body indicate inadequate of practical skills.

4. Students demonstrate average level of hard and soft skills relevant to the programme.

5. Non-teaching staff of the programme have relevant qualifications that are not relevant to the programme.

6. Below 50% of the academic staff benefited from the staff development programme.

7. Below 50% of the non-academic staff benefited from staff development programme.

8. The space for the museum and Histology prep room is inadequate.

9. Some essential Laboratory equipment that are not available include: floating bath, pH meter, cassette inclined rotary microtome, air extractor, oven, while the Cryostat, automatic tissue processor, microtome is nonfunctional laboratory equipment.

10. Fire extinguisher and sand buckets are inadequate in number.

11. Academic staff offices are inadequate in
space and not well furnished.

12. Funding for the programme is
inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that all the students admitted into the programme have the minimum requirement of 5 credits and above.

2. University should ensure to provide standard Question papers that covers the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure to conduct good practical’s to enable the students acquired skills needed.

4. University should ensure that all students demonstrate above average in skills required at the deferent levels of the programme.

5. The University Should ensure to employ non-teaching staff that are relevant to the programme.

6. University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

7. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff of the programme benefited from the staff development programme.

8. University should ensure to provide adequate space for the museum and Histology prep room.

9. The University should procure floating bath, pH meter. cassette inclined microtome, air extractor, oven while Cryostat, automatic tissue processor, microtome should be made to be functional.

10. Adequate number of fire extinguishers and sand buckets should be provided for the programme.

11. Standard and adequately furnished
academic staff offices should be
provided for the programme.

12. The programme should be adequately
funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 71.52%. It scored 28 (75.68%)  in Academic Matters, 24 (68%) in Staffing, 14.25 (52.78%) in Physical Facilities, 16.5 (91.67%) in Library. The programme scored 1.5 (75.00%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
