1. No innovative courses in the curriculum.

2. 22.2% of the teaching staff are from the parent University.

3. The staff mix by rank of 18.2:18.2:63.6 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines in one category.

4. 85.7% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme.

5. AC Spectrophotometry in the laboratory are not available, and Reagent chemicals are expired.

6. Furniture in the classrooms are not well maintain.

7. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space.

8. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

9. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research and collaborations

 

1. The College should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The College should ensure that the proportion of teaching staff from the parent University provides for at least 25% of the teaching staff need.

3. The College should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.

4. The College should ensure that all staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.

5. All essential equipment and Chemicals should be provided for the programme.

6. Furniture items in classrooms should be well maintained.

7. Standard (spacious) offices should be provided for academic staff on the programme.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

9. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research and collaborations in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.4%. It scored 33 (89.2%)  in Academic Matters, 34 (85.00%) in Staffing, 21 (77.8%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.4%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.3%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library, in academic matters, staffing, physical facilities and library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
