1. The curriculum contains only three additional/innovative courses. 2. Students’ practical reports on rock thin section preparation and petrographical studies are not of good quality. 3. All the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme in the past three years. 4. Basic laboratory equipment such as rock cutting and thin section machine, and petrological microscopes are inadequate in number. X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) are not available in the laboratory. 5. The academic staff offices are not adequately equipped with bookshelves, refrigerators and file cabinets. 6. The internet connectivity is slow and impedes access to e-books and e-journals. 8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

1. The University should ensure the inclusion of four or more additional/innovative courses without exceeding the credit load across all the levels of study. 2. The University should ensure that students are adequately trained and guided during practicals in the programme. 3. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from Staff Development Programme. 4. The University should procure adequate number of all basic laboratory equipment for the programme. 5. The University should ensure that all academic staff offices are adequately equipped. 6. The University should ensure increase in internet bandwidth to enhance access to e-library resources. 8. The programme should be adequately funded.

The total score for the programme is 82.61%. It scored 24 (88.89%) in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of FULL accreditation status for the Programme
