1. The curriculum contains only three additional/innovative courses. 2. Some aspects of microphotographs in the students’ degree projects are not clear. 3. Rockslides produced by students during the practicals are of poor quality. 4. 57% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme in the past three years. 5. The laboratory space vis-à-vis the size of the students is inadequate. 6. The following basic laboratory equipment are not available: X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). 7. The physical library journals are not current. 8. There is no evidence of research and collaboration in the programme. 9. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched with four or more innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load across all the levels of study. 2. Students’ degree projects should be well supervised. 3. The University should ensure that students are adequately trained and supervised during practicals to enhance production of quality work. 4. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from Staff Development Programme. 5. Standard (spacious) laboratory should be provided for the programme. 6. The University should procure all basic laboratory equipment required for the programme. 7. The University should ensure provision of very current journals for the programme. 8. The University should ensure robust research and collaboration in the programme. 9. The programme should be adequately funded.

The total score for the programme is 87.50%. It scored 32.5 (87.84%) in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
