REMEDIES

1. The following core courses in the BMAS are omitted from the programme’s curriculum: ERM 382 (Tourism Development Planning) and ERM 243 (Landscape Design and Planning).

2. Instructions on some question papers are not clearly stated and questions contain grammatical flaws e.g. EVM 445 (Section B (4b)) and EVM 335

3. There is bloc allocation of marks in the following courses: EVM 211.1 for 2022/23, 2023/24 academic sessions, EVM 231.1 for 2022/23 and EVM 321.1 for 2022/23. 2023/24 academic sessions. Some students in the programme write their names on their answer scripts.

4. Practicals in the programme are not adequately covered.

5. The classrooms are not tidy. Some chairs and bulbs are broken and non-functional respectively.

6. Access to e-library resources is limited to the University library.

7. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the BMAS to include all omitted courses.

2. The University should ensure that tests and examinations are of very good standard.

3. Marking schemes should be well developed with marks appropriately distributed. The University should stop the practice of writing names on answer scripts.

4. All practicals designed for the programme should be adequately covered.
5. The University should ensure adequate maintenance of the classrooms.

6. The University should provide Wi-Fi access points in other academic buildings to enhance access to e-library resources.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 89.26%. It scored 24.5 (74.24%)  in Academic Matters, 34.5 (98.57%) in Staffing, 26.0 (96.30%) in Physical Facilities, 16.0 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2.0 (66.67%) in Funding, 3.0 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2.0 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
