1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.
2. Practical work did not cover the scope of the curriculum.
3. The standard of tests and examinations is poor. Tests and examinations do not cover the curriculum.
4. The staff mix by rank of 20:30:50 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines in two categories.
5. 36.4% of the academic staff have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.
6. 33.3% of the non-academic staff have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.
7. The University subscribes to only one database (Proquest)
8. Funding of the programme is not very adequate.
9. There is no evidence of research and collaboration by staff and students with institutions within the country

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. The University should ensure that the programme is structured to include adequate tutorial/practical work conducted to cover the depth and scope of the curriculum.
3. The University should ensure that standard of texts and examinations is improved and that texts and examinations cover the curriculum.
4. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.
5. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
6. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
7. The University should ensure that additional database is subscribe to.
8. The funding of the programme should be improved upon.
9. The University should ensure that there is research and collaboration by staff and students with institutions within the country

 

The total score for the programme is 87.27%. It scored 26 (92.86%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (87.50%) in Staffing, 16 (100.00%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library, in academic matters, staffing, physical facilities and library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
