REMEDIES

1- The following core courses are omitted from the curriculum at 100 level GST 123 and NUT 101.
2- Practical work conducted are of good quality but do not cover the curriculum.
3- The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective.
4- 35.7% of the academic staff have not benefited from staff development program.
5- 35.7% of academic staff do not have Ph.D. degree.
6- Available fire extinguishers and sand buckets are inadequate in number.
7- Academic staff offices are slightly inadequate in number.
8- The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the program.
9- Funding is inadequate for the program.
10- There is no multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

1- The curriculum should be reviewed to include all core courses omitted in 100 level in line with NUC BMAS.
2- The university should ensure that practical work adequately covers the curriculum.
3- The university should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the program.
4- The university should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development program.
5- All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D. degree.
6- The university should ensure that adequate fire extinguishers and sand buckets are provided and installed.
7- Adequate number of well furnished offices should be provided for the academic staff of the program.
8- The university should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.
9- The program should be adequately funded.
10- The university should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the program.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.2%. It scored 33 (81.8%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (74.3%) in Staffing, 27 (81.5%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (83.3%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (33.3%) in Funding, 3 (66.6%) in Research and Collaborations and (0%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
