1. The following core/compulsory courses are omitted in the curriculum: 2. The nomenclature and content of the following courses are at variance with the stipulations of the BMAS/ CCMAS: 3. The curriculum exceeds the maximum credit load of 24 units per semester at first semester of 100 and 400 levels. 4. Bloc allocation of marks was observed in some marking schemes and answer scripts. 5. 33.3% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme in the past three years. 6. The laboratory does not have Phase-Contrast microscope, Dark-Field microscope, Florescent microscope and safety charts. 7. Academic staff offices are inadequate in number. 8. Physical library journals are inadequate in number and currency. 9. Subscription to only one relevant database for the programme is inadequate. 10. There is no evidence of any educational project/research to serve the host community.

1. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the BMAS/CCMAS to include all omitted core/compulsory courses. 2. The curriculum should be reviewed to reflect the appropriate nomenclature, viz Microbial Physiology and Metabolism, Pathogenic Microbiology, and Mycology, respectively; and expand the contents in line with the BMAS/CCMAS. 3. The University should ensure that the total credit load for each semester is in line with the NUC guidelines. 4. Marking schemes should be well-developed and applied in the grading of students work, and bloc marking discouraged. 5. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from Staff Development Programme. 6. The University should procure the full microscope components and provide safety charts for the laboratory. 7. Adequate number of well-equipped offices should be provided for academic staff on the programme. 8. More current journals should be procured for the programme. 9. The University should subscribe to at least two relevant databases for more robust and current electronic resources. 10. The University should ensure that there is at least one educational project/research to serve the host community

The total score for the programme is 84.40%. It scored 30.5 (82.43%) in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
B. APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION
Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of FULL accreditation status for the Programme
