1. The practical works conducted are of commendable quality. However, the Panel’s interaction with some students revealed that the curriculum’s depth and scope are inadequately covered. 2. A number of students tested to assess the level of skills acquired across different stages of the programme demonstrated an average proficiency in both hard and soft skills relevant to the programme. 3. An internal quality assurance mechanism exists but is not fully effective. The Panel noted the composition of its membership, and no minutes of previous meetings were available for review. 4. The staff mix by rank within the programme does not align with NUC guidelines in two specific categories. 5. A significant proportion (42.1%) of the academic staff lack a Ph.D. qualification. 6. 57.1% of the academic staff and none of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from the Staff Development Programme. 7. Laboratory equipment, including computer systems, is adequate in quantity. However, the availability and accessibility of internet facilities within the laboratory are notably poor. 8. Office accommodations are generally satisfactory. However, one Professor’s office is in a state of severe disrepair, posing potential health hazards. 9. The physical library’s holdings and currency of materials are of good quality and up-to-date at the departmental library. However, there are no comparable holdings in the University Library. 10. Funding is for the programme is inadequate.

1. The University should ensure that practical sessions conducted for the programme are of high quality, with adequate depth and scope comprehensively covered. 2. The University should ensure that students demonstrate a high level of proficiency in both hard and soft skills relevant to the programme. 3. The University should maintain an effective Internal Quality Assurance system. This system must be functional and include documented minutes of meetings pertinent to the programme. 4. The staff mix by rank should align fully with the categories prescribed by the NUC BMAS guidelines. 5. The University should encourage all academic staff to pursue and obtain a Ph.D. degree. 6. The University should ensure that both academic and non-academic staff have access to and benefit from the Staff Development Programme. 7. The University should prioritize the provision of all essential laboratory equipment required for the programme. 8. Properly equipped, standard office accommodations should be provided for all academic staff associated with the programme. 9. The University should procure additional books and relevant resources to support the programme. 10. The programme should be adequately funded

The total score for the programme is 82.80%. It scored 34 (91.89%) in Academic Matters, 26 (74%) in Staffing, 21.5 (79.63%) in Physical Facilities, 15.5 (86.11%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2.5 (83.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
