REMEDIES

1. Projects lacked correct APA style referencing, and thus, students’ projects should be effectively supervised.
2. The staff mix of 51.85:18.52:29.63 meets the NUC recommendation due to the number of professors. However, the staff mix is top-heavy.
3. Less than 60% of academic staff have benefited from staff development.
4. Less than 50% of non-teaching staff have benefited from staff development
5. The books and journals in the physical library are inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The Department should ensure that students projects are effectively supervised.
2. The University should consider employment of more senior and junior lecturers.
3. The Department should ensure that more academic staff benefit from staff development.
4. The Department should ensure that more non-academic staff benefit from staff development
5. The University should procure more books and journals for the physical library.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.00%. It scored 31 (83.78%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
