REMEDIES

1. Some sampled degree projects are not well supervised,
there is no consistency in the formatting.

2. Interaction between the panel members and students of
the programme reveals the students have not acquired all
the relevant hard and soft skills expected of or prescribed for
their levels.

3, External Examiner reports are not of good standard as the
report did not reflect or capture the judgment on the quality of
facilities and teaching.

4. 44.4% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D. degree.

5. 33.3% of the academic staff and all the non-teaching staff
have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.

6. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space.

7. Internet Hotpots are only available within the library
complex.

8. Funding is inadequate for the programme

 

1. The University should ensure that degree projects are well
supervised.

2. The University should ensure that the student acquired all
the relevant hard and soft skills expected of for their levels.

3. The report of the external examiner should comprise the
level of compliance with guidelines and the quality of the
assessment and evaluation of students.

4. The University should encourage all academic staff to
encouraged to obtain Ph.D. degree.

5. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from
Staff Development Programme.

6. Standard offices should be provided for the academic staff
on the programme.

7. Internet Hotpots should be extended to other parts of the
campus for ease of access to e-resources in the library.

8. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 81.65%. It scored 27 (84.38%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77.14%) in Staffing, 13 (81.25%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
