REMEDIES

1. Marking schemes are not well developed as bloc allocation of marks was observed.

2. Internal Quality assurance is not effective as meetings are not regular.

3. The proportion of staff core to the subject area provides for only 50% of the teaching staff need.

4. Only 21.4 % of the Teaching staff are from the parent University.

5. Academic staff mix by rank of
21.4:7.1:71.4 is consistent with NUC guidelines only in one category.

6. All of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from the staff Development programme.

7. Academic staff offices are not well furnished with window blinds, bookshelves and white boards.

8. There is active subscription to only one relevant data base

 

1. Marking schemes should be well developed and bloc allocation of marks to examination questions should be discouraged.

2. The College should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme.

3. The College should ensure that the proportion of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff need.

4. The College should ensure that at least 25% of the teaching staff are from the parent university.

5. The College should ensure that the staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 is in line with NUC requirement.

6. The College should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development programme.

7. The College should ensure that academic Staff offices are well furnished

8. The College should subscribe to at least 2 relevant databases for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.33%. It scored 29 (87.88%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (75.00%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library, in academic matters, staffing, physical facilities and library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
