1. The University included only three additional innovative courses
2. External examiners system does not exist in the University
3. The internal quality assurance system exists but not very effective
4. The number of teaching staff with PhD’s is less than 50%
5 The non-teaching staff is inadequate in number
6. None-teaching staff development programme does not exist
7. The number of teaching staff that benefitted from the staff development programme is below 50%
8. safety and environmental sanitation of teaching facilities is poor

 

1. The University should add one more innovative course without exceeding the minimum core compulsory courses
2. The University should engage a qualified external examiner to assess the standard of work done in the department
3. The University should constitute a functional and effective internal quality assurance committee at both faculty and departmental level
4. The University should encourage and support its academic staffs to obtain higher degrees for effective teaching and learning
5. The University should employ more administrative staff for greater efficiency and ease of administration
6. None of the administrative staff benefitted from staff development programme
7. The University should upgrade and update academic staff competencies through attendance of seminars, industrial attachments, and higher degree courses
8. The University should ensure proper sanitation of toilets facilities, provide more fire extinguishers and sand bucket to comply with government laws relating to fire and environmental sanitation

 

The total score for the programme is 71.54%. It scored 29 (82.86%)  in Academic Matters, 16 (45.71%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
