REMEDIES

1. The internal quality assurance system exists but the Head of department is the Chairman of the Committee.

2. Interaction between the panel members and students reveals the students only have an average knowledge of the relevant hard and soft skills expected at their levels.

3. The Chemistry laboratory does not have the following essential equipment specified in the BMAS: FIIR, HPLC and NMR.

4. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space and there are no in-built toilet facilities for the Professorial cadre.

5. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that the committee is not chaired by the Head of department.

2. The University should ensure that the students acquire adequate knowledge of the relevant hard and soft skills expected at their levels.

3. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS.

4. Standard offices should be provided for the programme and there should be in-built toilets for the Professorial cadre.

5. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (100.00%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
