REMEDIES

1. Comparative Early Childhood Education (ECE112), Drawing Cultural and Creative Arts (ECE114), Primary Religious and Moral Instructions (ECE207), Culture of Childhood (ECE209) and Teaching of Values and Valuing in Early Childhood Education (ECE310) are treated as elective courses contrary to the provisions of the BMAS which prescribes it as compulsory.

2. 33.3% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff development Programme.

3. There were no mattresses in the laboratory.

4. Some of the furniture in the classrooms were broken. Also, some of the fans were shaky.

5. The physical library journal are inadequate in number.

6. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

1. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the BMAS.

2. The University should ensure that all non-teaching benefit from Staff Development Programme.

3. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the CCMAS/BMAS.

4. The university should ensure that equipment in the classrooms are well maintained.

5. More current journal should be procured for the programme.

6. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 90.40%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
