1. General Techniques in Botany (BMAS) and Communication in English (BMAS) are omitted in the curriculum. 2. Inappropriate credit units were allotted to the following courses: Organic Chemistry I (CHM 216) – 3 units instead of 4, and Inorganic Chemistry I (CHM 212) – 2 units instead 3. 3. 40.0% of the core academic staff do not have Ph.D. degree. 4. 50.0% of the academic staff and 40% of the non-teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme in the past three years. 5. The AAS, GCMS, two UG spectrophotometer, one centrifuge, table-top lyophiliser and some microscopes are not functional. 6. Academic staff offices are inadequate in number for staff and there is no Departmental office. Also, some offices are not equipped with fans. 7. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and coverage of subject areas of the programme. 8. Subscription to only one relevant database for the programme is inadequate. 9. Funding is inadequate for the programme. 10. There is no evidence of research and collaboration in the programme with other institutions.

1. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the BMAS to include all omitted core/compulsory courses. 2. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the provisions of BMAS. 3. The University should encourage all academic staff to obtain Ph.D. degree. 4. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from Staff Development Programme. 5. Non-functional equipment should be serviced/repaired or replaced and maintained regularly. 6. Adequate number of well-furnished and equipped offices should be provided for the HOD and academic staff on the programme. 7. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme. 8. The University should subscribe to at least two relevant databases for more robust and current electronic resources. 9. The programme should be adequately funded. 10. The University should ensure that there is research and collaboration in the programme with other institutions to serve the host community.

The total score for the programme is 77.39%. It scored 25 (92.59%) in Academic Matters, 25 (71.43%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
