REMEDIES

1. Practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum.

2. 42.9% of academic staff do not have PhD. degree programme.

3. 33.4% of academic staff have not benefited from staff development programme.

4. The space in the existing laboratory is inadequate in size or meets 60% but less than 70% of the prescribed NUC Standards.

5. Academic Staff offices are slightly inadequate in space.

6. Access to available e-books and e-journals for staff and student is available only to campus hotspots and intranet.

7. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that practical work adequately cover the curriculum.

2. The University should ensure that all academic staff have PhD degree programme.

3. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development programme.

4. The University should ensure that laboratory space meets the provisions of the BMAS.

5. The University should provide more office space for teaching staff.

6. The University should provide more access to available e-books and e-journals to internet and library website.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.99%. It scored 32 (91.43%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 17.5 (97.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2.5 (83.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
