REMEDIES

1. The Staff mix of 41.3:34:8:23.9 does not meet the NUC specification because it is top-heavy.
2. 50% of the academic staff have not benefitted from staff development training.
3. 50% of non-academic staff have not benefitted from staff development training.
4. The Laboratories did not meet the NUC-prescribed space standards and did not have preparatory rooms, a store, and an office for the clinical instructor.
5. The equipment in the Laboratories are old and outdated, and lacked stimulators for teaching.

 

1. The University should balance the staff mix by employing more Junior lecturers.
2. The department should ensure that more academic staff benefit from staff development training.
3. The department should ensure that more non-academic staff benefit from staff development training.
4. The University should provide adequate laboratory space for the programme and include preparatory rooms, a store, and an office for the clinical instructor.
5. The University should procure new laboratory equipment and stimulators for teaching.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.60%. It scored 35.5 (95.95%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
