Physical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry I are treated as electives courses instead of core, contrary to the provisions of BMAS. 3. Examination questions are not of good standard as marks are not indicated on the examination papers nor properly distributed in some instances. In addition, there was no evidence of continuous assessment. 4. 1. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the BMAS and CCMAS to include all omitted core/compulsory courses. 2. The curriculum should be reviewed in line with the provision of BMAS. 3. The standard of examinations should be improved by indicating marks and ensuring even distribution of marks where required. Also, continuous assessment should be administered and documented. 4. Marking schemes should be well developed for all courses, and applied in the grading of students’ work. 5. The reports of external examiners should comprise the level of compliance with guidelines and the quality of the assessment and evaluation of students. 6. The University should ensure that the proportion of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for at least 75% of the teaching staff need. 7. The University should encourage all academic staff to obtain Ph.D. degree. 8. The University should procure the full microscope components and safety charts, and ensure that all non-functional microscopes are serviced/repaired. 9. More current books and journals in the subject areas should be procured for the programme. 10. The University should ensure subscription to at least two relevant databases for more robust and current electronic resources.
