REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses. IRH 411 (Comparative Industrial Relations system Theory), IRH 428 (International Human Resource Management), BUS 221 (Principles Of Management).

2. One student (Arnold Agbor Array) out of five students admitted into the programme (20%) did not meet the admission requirements for the programme. He had a deficiency in the ‘O’ level Economics subject.

3. The staff mix by rank of 23.5:23.5:53 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines in two categories.

4. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme provides for only 35.3% of the teaching srtaff need.

5. None of the academic and non-teaching staff have benefited from the staff Development Programme.

6.Some academic staff offices are not furnished with bookshelves and filingcabinets.

7. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.

8. Subscription to e-library resources is inadequate and in addition access to the e-resources is limited. Subscription is only to one database.

9. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme.

10. There is no evidence to research and collaboration in the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four (4) innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that all admitted students meet all admission requirements.

3. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.

4. The University ensure that the proportion of teaching staff core to the subject are provides for 75.0% or more of the teaching staff need.

5. The University should ensure that all academic and no-teaching staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

6. Well-furnished offices should be provided for the academic staff of the programme.

7. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

8. The University should subscribe to more databases.

9. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.

10. The university should ensure that there is research and collaboration in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 69.05%. It scored 27.5 (91.67%)  in Academic Matters, 19 (54.29%) in Staffing, 14 (87.50%) in Physical Facilities, 10 (55.56%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
