1. Students’ degree projects are not consistent in style of writing/reporting.

2. There is no technologist in the Highway and Transportation Engineering Laboratory.

3. 33% of academic staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme in the past 3 years.

4. Safety precautions are not displayed on the laboratory walls.

5. Classroom equipment are not well maintained.

6. Sand buckets are inadequate in number.

7. Physical library journals are inadequate in currency.

8. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme.

9. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

1. The University should ensure that students’ degree projects are properly supervised and style of writing/reporting consistent.

2. The University should employ a technologist for the Highway and Transportation Engineering Laboratory.

3. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.

4. The University should ensure that safety precautions are displayed on the laboratory walls.

5. Classroom equipment should be well maintained.

6. More sand buckets should be provided for the programme and strategically located.

7. More current physical library journals should be procured for the programme.

8. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.

9. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 84.00%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
