1. The standard of tests and examination do not cover the curriculum.
2. The internal quality assurance system exists but it is neither effective nor functional.
3. The administration of the department is run by a qualified academic (professor) but is not a specialist in the subject area of marketing.
4.The non teaching staff is inadequate in number as there is no secretary/ICT operator.
5. 50% of non teaching staff have not benefitted from staff development programme.
6. The laboratory meets less than the minimum NUC prescribed requirement as there is no marketing laboratory and equipment.
7. The number of functional toilets is not adequate to serve the department.
8.The reference textbooks and journals in the library are inadequate in number, quality and coverage.
9. The currency of holdings in the library are inadequate.
10. The funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The standard of tests and examination must cover the curriculum.
2. The internal quality assurance system should be effective and functional consisting of minutes of meetings and decision making documents relevant to the programme.
3. The administration of the department should be run by a qualified academic and must be a specialist in the field of marketing.
4. The department should have a secretary and an ICT operator for smooth running of the programme.
5. The university should ensure that all non teaching staff benefit from staff development programme.
6. The university should provide a marketing laboratory that is well- equipped for the programme.
7. The university should provide more functional toilets for the department.
8. The university should ensure that library books and journals are of good quality, relevant and adequate in number and coverage for the programme.
9. The university should ensure that the recommended text and journals in the library are current.
10. The funding for the programme should be improved upon.

 

The total score for the programme is 77.50%. It scored 28 (87%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 15 (56%) in Physical Facilities, 12 (67%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
