REMEDIES

1. The standard of tests and examinations do not cover the
curriculum.

2. The programme does not make adequate provision for
practical work.

3. Interaction between panel members and students of the
programme reveals the students have not acquired the
relevant hard and soft skills expected.

4. The quality assurance mechanism is not effective.

5. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme
provides for 62.5% of the teaching staff need.

6. The programme is runned by a lecturer I.

7. . 37.5% of the academic staff have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.

8. Laboratories for the programme are inadequate in space.

9. Laboratory equipment such has Stadiometers, Bathroom scales, Food models, Tapes, and clippers are inadequate for the programme.

10. Academic staff offices are not furnished with bookshelves
and filling cabinets.

11. Physical library books and Journals are inadequate in
number and currency.

12. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

13. There are no evidence of research and collaborations for the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that standard of tests and
examinations is improved upon and tests and examinations
cover the curriculum.

2. The University should ensure that the programme is
structured to include adequate practical work.

3. The University should ensure that the practical work
conducted is of good quality and covers dept and scope of
the curriculum.

4. The University should ensure that the internal quality
assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme.

5. The University should ensure that the proportion of
teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% of
the teaching staff need.

6. The University should ensure the programme is being run by a qualified academics which should be a senior lecturer and above.

7. The University should ensure that all academic and nonacademic
staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.

8. More standard and spacious laboratories should be provided for the programme.

9. The University should procure more laboratory equipment for the programme.

10. Well-furnished offices should be provided for academic
staff of the programme.

11. More current books and Journals should be procured for
the programme.

12. The programme should be adequately funded.

13. The University should ensure that there is research and collaboration by staff and students with other institutions within and outside the country.

 

The total score for the programme is 72.69%. It scored 24.5 (74.24%)  in Academic Matters, 26.5 (75.71%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1.5 (50.00%) in Funding, 0 (0.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
