REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.

2. The standard of tests and examinations do not cover the
curriculum.

3. Interaction between panel members and students of the
programme reveals the students have not acquired the
relevant hard and soft skills expected.

4. Staff mix by rank of 20:47:33 does not meet the NUC
approved guidelines in two categories.

5. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space.

6. . Physical library books and Journals are inadequate in
number and currency.

7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

8. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research among
the departments.

 

1. The university should ensure that the curriculum is
enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses
without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that standard of tests and
examinations is improved upon and tests and examinations
cover the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure that the practical work
conducted is of good quality and covers dept and scope of
the curriculum.

4.The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of
20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guideline.

5. . Standard (spacious) offices should be provided for the
programme.

6. More current books and Journals should be procured for
the programme.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

8. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 90.08%. It scored 34.6 (93.51%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
