1. PHY 211: Workshop practice is omitted at the 200 level in the curriculum
2. No course content in the curriculum for PHY3340: Electromagnetic Waves
3. 47% of teaching staff and 74.3% of non-teaching staff have not benefitted from staff development programmes in the past three years
4. The following Laboratory equipment: Ripple Tank and Lee’s Conductivity Apparatus are unavailable
5. Staff offices are inadequate in space
6. Funding for the Programme is inadequate
7. There is no evidence of multidisciplinary research engagement

 

1. The University should ensure that PHY 211: Workshop practice is included in the curriculum at the 200 level
2. The University should ensure that course content for PHY3340: Electromagnetic Waves is included in the curriculum
3. The University should ensure that all academic and non-academic staff benefit from staff development programmes
4. The University should provide Ripple Tank and Lee’s Conductivity apparatus for the programme
5. The University should provide adequate office space for staff
6. The University should ensure that the programme is adequately funded
7. The programme should engage in multidisciplinary research

 

The total score for the programme is 88.00%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
